As we continue to develop noninvasive approaches to medicine, more and more procedures are being performed within the radiology department. It is then no surprise that our radiology departments are experiencing continued growth—more procedures and more patients. So what do we need? More nurses. This is a trend that we can all relate to, and after doing your due diligence, weeding through red tape, and entertaining more meetings than you ever thought necessary, you are finally granted the budget to reconcile this nursing shortage. So now you rejoice, right? That is, until you realize that you have an even greater challenge to overcome: your nurse orientation program that has not been updated since 2000, which may as well be the stone age in terms of technology. How are you going to orient a new group of nurses in this continuously changing specialty without scaring them away?
