We have read the letter by (Hallam et al)1 concerning our article2 with interest.In response to one of the concerns raised, it is clear that the images assessed were not standardized because they were not clinical photographs. The whole point of the paper was to analyze published photographs of natural breasts deemed attractive in mass print media. Standardization was carried out as far as possible by selecting three quarter profile views only and by assessing large numbers (100 consecutive women).
