"To understand mobility without recourse to representation on the one hand or the material corporeality on the other is, I would argue, to miss the point"(Cresswell, 2006, p. 4). "Country people are generally presumed to possess a strong sense of community and a marked feeling of belonging to their village or county. This may have been generally true a century ago but a number of factors have tended to modify the strength and direction of these sentiments. Migration and greater mobility have had much to do with this... "(Bracey, 1959, p. 43).
