摘要

The forty-first and forty-second semiannual meetings of the Substance Abuse Research Consortium in the spring and fall of 2010 brought together two segments of the alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention and treatment world-research and practice-to focus on one critical issue: treatment services for the criminal justice-involved client. The goal of the meetings was to initiate conversation and collaboration between researchers and practitioners who deliver AOD services in California to identify evidence-based practices that are working and can lead to better outcomes for those we serve. This is a worthy goal, given that approximately 50% of the clients entering California's publicly-funded treatment programs for the past several years have come from the offender population. Add to that figure the number of driving-under-the-influence clients in treatment programs, and our statewide data collection system-California Outcomes Measurement System (CalOMS)-projects that nearly 75% of clients in the system are criminal-justice involved.
