The powerful outcome of arthrodesis for the management of various foot and ankle pathologies is being studied continuously through biomechanical and clinical research. The gratifying result of a successful arthrodesis and alignment along with the unforgiving possible sequela of a nonunion and/or malunion still exists in every surgeon's mind each time the procedure is performed.The role of arthrodesis to address painful and debilitating foot and ankle conditions is numerous to say the least. While the topic is broad, the selected authors have addressed the indications, techniques, and pearls along with key insights on postoperative protocols to avoid potential complications. The guest editors Drs Boc and Muscarella have done an outstanding job on their contributions and by selecting surgical experts to collaborate for the making of this edition.
