HEMATOLOGICAL PARANEOPLASTIC SYNDROME IN DOGS WITHLYMPHOMA

The paraneoplastic syndrome (PNS) is a complex of systemic structural or functional alterations with a localisation different from that of the primary cancer focus. PNS is an extremely various group of clinical and laboratory changes related to the non-invasive effects of the tumor. In many instances., PNS develops at the same time with the primary malignancy and its manifestations are often initial signs of a progressing neoplastic disease or a specific sign of a given type of cancer.The hematological paraneoplastic syndrome is among the most commonly encountered in cancer patients. In this study, we describe the changes found in the red and white blood cell counts in dogs with lymphoma (n = 10) and clinically healthy dogs (n = 6).
