摘要

The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) is committed to promoting health and safety for all children in early care and education (ECE) programs and believes that high-quality ECE programs are critical for optimal health and development of young children. ECE refers to child care centers, family child care homes, Early Head Start/Head Start, nursery and preschool programs, and all out-of-home programs for children from infancy to preschool. In the United States, 6l% of children younger than six years of age are cared for in nonparental care arrangements (Administration for Children and Families, 2008; National Child Care Information and Technology Assistance Center, 2010). Children attending high-quality ECE programs show improvements in physical and mental health and school readiness.
