Methylene blue marking as an aid to correct placement of dental implants: a technical note.

Implant-supported restorations can restore function and esthetics, provided that the implants are placed in the predetermined location with proper angulation. Teamwork between clinicians, including the restorative dentist, the periodontologist, and the oral surgeon, is of utmost importance for the success of the treatment procedure.1 Surgical templates are necessary for precise execution of the planned treatment.2 A variety of surgical templates have been described in the literature.3'4 Their major disadvantages are lack of stability in the edentulous patient, poor orientation of the implant in a mesiodistal and buccolingual position, and the impossibility of using them as a temporary denture, which results in a prolonged treatment period.
