Of note the President and Chief Executive Officer of Consumers Union is Jim Guest, the former Executive Director of the American Pain Foundation, another highly respected patient advocacy organization. Having worked with Jim on voluntary boards, this writer can attest to Jim's absolute commitment to improved care for pain patients. The Consumer Reports article on dietary supplements(6) does just that. But for it to be optimally effective, pain management clinicians and advocates must take it seriously and communicate it to persons with pain.
