摘要

Based on the study of the self-mixing interference effects at different optical feedback levels, a model is presented in terms of the threshold condition of a compound cavity laser. This model considers the optical feedback effect on the real and imaginary parts of the complex refractive index of the laser active medium and the asymmetric external cavity effect. Complex waveforms experimentally observed at high feedback levels can be interpreted well by this model. Theoretical and experimental results show a potential increase in the resolution of the displacement measurement at a high optical feedback level or misalignment condition.
