Coatings are usually deposited by thermal spraying,physical vapor deposition or chemical vapor deposition. The aim was of the study of E.A. Gallardo et al. was to find low traction coefficient options to give a lower likelihood of jamming/seizing. The surface treatment with a smooth finishing (SF) and different coatings gave lower traction than the reference material (stainless steel).
