In this study, various ZnO nanostructures such as elongated nanorods, discrete rods, tetrapods, and multipods were grown by chemical vapor deposition technique. It was observed that temperature, precursor and substrate affect the structure/morphology of the nanostructure. The structural and photoluminescence (PL) studies on these nanostructures were carried out. The intensity of PL peaks in tetrapods and multipods samples were much stronger than the intensity of PL peak in elongated and discrete nanorod samples. In the PL spectra of tetrapod and multipod samples, few extra peaks in the UV region were also observed and the possible origin of such peaks are discussed.
