摘要

The development of rapid, low cost and environment friendly processes for the synthesis of nanomaterials is of great importance in the field of nanotechnology. In this paper sugar industry waste (bagasse) was used as the reducing and capping agent for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles under microwave treatment. The nanoparticles were characterized using UV Visible spectroscopy, DLS, TEM and XRD. The biomolecules attached to the nanoparticles were characterized using FTIR. The hydroxyl and aldehydic sugars of the bagasse reduces the silver ions within 4 minutes. The nanoparticles formed were 50-150 nm in size and spherical in shape.
