Report: Some companies discount impact of climate change

Many major carbon-emitting companies are pursuing business strategies that appear to discount the global-warming threat, according to the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies. CERES' report, called Corporate Governance and Climate Change: Making the Connection, spelled out threats it says leave companies and their shareholders vnlnerable to increased financial risks and missed market opportunities created by climate change. The report says that though companies have discussed climate change in the boardroom, many are not reporting on the issue in their securities filings, and even fewer companies are projecting greenhouse gas emissions trends. It concludes that this lack of reporting leaves shareholders uninformed about the risks and liabilities these companies face.
