Medical Nutrition Therapy in Adolescents With Type 1 Diabetes A Case Study

Adolescence is a time of physical and emotional change, as well as high-risk behavior and peer pressure. Chronic disease, such as type 1 diabetes, demands intensive self-management of all treatment aspects to achieve success. This case study describes the challenges involved in working with an adolescent with type 1 diabetes, the need for integration of diet and medications into the world of adolescence, and the psychosocial pressures teenagers face daily.
