This paper describes strain/stress and texture experiments on a multiphase rock, carried out as well as on the neutron-TOF-diffractometers EPSILON-MDS and SKAT at beam line 7A of the pulsed neutron source IBR-2 at JINR Dubna (Russia) and the ENGIN diffractometer at the ISIS neutron spallation source (UK). The rock, the so called "Zuckerdolomit", is known to be problematic in underground work by liquefaction due to mechanical stimulus. Comparing the data for the main components, dolomite and anhydrite, opposite directed characteristics have been found to be related with the intracrystalline residual strain distribution as well as with textural features. Furthermore, an experimentally shock deformed sample, consisting of two different rock types: strongly textured quartzite and untextured dunite, has been studied in order to investigate the residual strain evolution on both sides of the interface. The studies focus on a better understanding of superimposed deformation processes on rocks, which differ in pre-existing types of texture.
