Bioactivities and structure of polymethoxylated flavones in citrus.

摘要

Polymethoxylated flavones (PMFs) belong to flavonoids. These compounds have stronger bioactivities than other types of flavonoids owing to the PMFs' special coplanar structure and multiple methoxyl groups. PMFs exist in different plants, of these, only citrus PMFs can be ingested as food directly. Therefore, the research about PMFs found in the genus Citrus L. show important significance for people health in daily life. This review summarized the types of citrus PMFs, bioactivities and the mechanism of action reported in the literature, as well as the relationship between structures of citrus PMFs and their bioactivities. The aim of this work is to provide information for PMFs further work in future.
