Impact of vitamins in shrimp diets in inducing the growth potentials in tropical Penaeid prawn Penaeus monodon.

The importance of nutritionally balanced completed feed in shrimp farming is also receiving greater attention. Penaeid prawn Penaeus monodon selected in the present investigation is ideal for culture activity in Nellore and Prakasam Districts of Andhra Pradesh in India. The culture activity of P. monodon require simple pond requirements and Euryhaline i.e. tolerate wide range of salinity fluctuations and temperatures (Eurythermal). Aquafarms culturing tropical penaeid prawn Penaeus monodon fed with five commercially important feeds under culture operation were picked up for field study. Five commercial feeds selected in the present investigation are C.P. Brand feed, Waterbase, Growbest, Goldcoin and Avanthi feeds, which are very popular in use for culture activity in Nellore and Prakasam Districts. Pond wise performances for Commercial Diets clearly demonstrate that, all the feeds selected in the present investigation are capable of inducing best growth potentials in penaeid prawn Penaeus monodon. The production rates of prawns and the FCR values obtained clearly demonstrate that the diets selected in the present investigation are efficient in promoting rates in prawns and the resulting data are statistically analyzed. The comparative analysis of performance of diets clearly demonstrates that highest production was obtained with C.P. Brand feed followed by Waterbase, Growbest, Goldcoin and finally with Avanthi feeds.
