Both the antagonists viz. Trichoderma viride and Trichoderma harzianum were found effective in controlling root rot of cotton in varieties HS-6 (Gossypium hirsutum L.), HD-107 (Gossypium arboreum L.) and hybrid HHH-81 (Intra hirstitum hybrid) when applied as seed treatment, soil treatment, seed treatment followed by soil treatment and soil treatment followed by seed treatment. T. viride was found best in soil treatment, whereas T, harzianum was found best in soil treatment followed by seed treatment. In this study, T. harzianum was found superior to T. viride, however, statistically at par in per cent mortality of seedlings in all the experiments.
