A 69-year-old man presented to his general ophthalmologist for cataract surgery, reporting blurry vision in the left eye that had been present for approximately 2 years. He was found to have an irregular corneal surface in the left eye. His ocular history includes a corneal abrasion 5 months before presentation, although he stated that his vision was bothersome before the abrasion. His medical history includes gastrointestinal reflux disease, hearing loss, and seasonal allergies but is otherwise negative. He has no known drug allergies. Medications included acetylsalicylic acid 81 mg each day. His family ocular history is negative, and he does not take ocular medications. He drinks alcohol on occasion and denied tobacco and recreational drug use.
