Tumor lysis syndrome in solid tumors.

To the Editor: I read with great interest the case report by Noh et al published in the December 2008 issue of Journal of Clinical Oncology. This is one of the rare instances of tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) caused by radiotherapy in a solid tumor.The authors state that their patient is the third among the solid tumors reported, but I published in 2006 a comprehensive review of TLS in solid tumors, and I have shown that there were already three patients in the literature. I think that the authors have not gone through the published literature carefully.
