摘要

Often, student sencounter a particular technique in a single setting, leaving the false impression that the technique has limited applications. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences at Kennesaw State University (KSU) have undertaken a project to alleviate this problem within the biochemistry curriculum. We desired to integrate new/modified experiments employing UV-vis spectroscopy, protein electrophoresis, and nucleic acid technology across our biochemistry curriculum. The curriculum development project primarily affects five laboratory courses: Genetics, Biochemistry I, Molecular Methods in Genetics, Forensic DNA Analysis, and Plant Physiology. Here we provide an overview of exercises implemented, as well as how these experiments relate to other laboratory exercises in the curriculum.
