The february 2011 issue of the Journal of Cardiotho-racic and Vascular Anesthesia (JCVA) had an editorial by Dr Dalia A. Banks introducing a new Journal section for fellows, the "Cardiac Anesthesia Fellows Education (CAFE)".1 This section provides an ideal opportunity for fellows to pursue their academic interests. Dr Banks highlighted many important issues pertaining to CTA (cardiothoracic anesthesiology) fellows and their transition to clinician/educators. As Dr Banks mentions in her editorial, educational opportunities are an important facet of the fellowship experience. Here, a novel approach to intraoperative resident education is presented.
