By December India’s Tata Steel is planning to commission a new 3 million tpy Kalinganagar plant inOdisha state, the local sources report.The construction works of the Phase I have been completed. The scope of equipment includes a5.75 million tpy sinter plant, a 1.8 million tpy coking plant, a 3.2 million tpy BF, a 3 million tpy BOF-basedmeltshop and a 3 million tpy hot strip mill. About INR 220 billion (about $3.45 billion) was drawn out ofINR 250 billion (about $3.92 billion) estimated for the phase implementation.
