Conventional hot strip mill line is still a major production process tor hot rolled coils, even though a compact hot strip null line, which is directly connected to continuous thin-slab caster, has become an alternate process in this field. At the same time, it is also expected to roll wider and thinner product with highest quality requirements, yet meet the desired high production volume, in recent years, expectations of the marketplace from conventional hot strip mill line have become even more demanding.In order to offer solutions to the customer demands, a number of cutting-edge technologies in hot strip rolling field have been developed. Pair cross mill provides the highest strip crown/flatness control. Mill stabilizing device combined with pair cross system improves capability of high reduction. Looper shape meter detects flatness distribution of strip between finishing stands. Hydraulic down coder makes good shape hot coils. These outstanding technologies were provided to the hot strip mill line for Kalinganagar Project, Odisha, India. TATA Steel. Ltd. (TSK). The line is the most modem and advancal hot strip mill in India.
