A new obligatorily cavernicolous (troglobitic) species of the cixiid tribe Cixiini is described from Croatia and assigned to the Palearctic genus Trirhacus Fieber. Information on its ecology is given. This is the first record of a troglobitic planthopper from Croatia and Dinarides, and only the 2nd cavernicolous cixiid species from the Mediterranean region. T. helenae sp. n. is closely related to the epigean T. dubiosus Wagner suggesting cave-adaptation via an adaptive shift and parapatric speciation. ((c) 2013 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
