A study was conducted to determine the influence of four diets on survival, growth and body structure of common carp (C. carpio) larvae during the initial 28 days of rearing. 150 two-days-old post-hatching larvae were randomly distributed in each oftwelve 120 litre cylindrical tanks containing 30 litres of water. Larvae were fed 4 diets in triplicate: D1 (zooplankton), D2 (yeast-based diet), D3 (mixed diet -- Artemia nauplii 1 week, dry feed (34% protein) 3 weeks) and D4 (A. nauplii). After 28 days, no significant difference in survival (46-58%) were found. Significantly higher mean final wet weights of larvae were recorded for D4 (779 mg) and D3 (649 mg) than for D2 (130 mg) or D1 (30 mg). Deformities were found only larvae fed D3 and D2. Basedon the growth performance, it is concluded that the (A. nauplii) (D4) and mixed diet of Artemia salina nauplii (7 days) and 34% protein dry feed (21 days) (D3) could be successfully used for carp larval rearing.
