摘要

Learning in a context of staffing shortages, increasing complexity and acuity of patient populations, and the push toward evidence-based practice can be a challenge for nursing staff. Moreover, an aging nursing population has left many nursing units with higher proportions of junior staff members, and budget cuts to orientation programs have led to an increased need for mentorship and guidance on these units. This article describes the process of nursing rounds, a forum for the nursing staff, clinical nurse specialist (CNS), nurse educator (NE), and head nurse (HN), to discuss patients collaboratively and share ideas, with a focus on gaining a better understanding of the nursing care needs of each patient and family.
