Continuous fibre-reinforced composites (CFRP) are increasingly being used in the aerospace and automotive industries to cope with lightweighting challenges and meet high performance standards. Thanks to their unique combination of stiffness, strength and density, CFRP open up new design possibilities to engineers. However, this material potential comes with a price to pay: the complexity to identify all the possibilities offered by a given composite material system.
