The beverage industry is requiring packaging machines to meet stricter hygiene standards that are now affecting even leading manufacturers of automatic can seamers. With these requirements in mind, Ferrum has modified several parts of its newly enhanced seamer line to minimize microbial risks when these parts are automatically cleaned. In a can line, the pasteurization tunnel typically uses more space and above all more energy than any other part of the system. Some companies are already making efforts to eliminate the pasteurization tunnel as a necessary step in the bottling process for certain beverages, such as beer-based mixed drinks, shandy, etc. This presents a new challenge for manufacturers of line components for these applications.
