Finance ministers of the Group of Seven developed countries (G7), not the oil ministers, have urged Saudi Arabia and other producing nations to increase output to bring down oil prices. Their plea, following hot on the heels of the US White House leaking that it may release oil from strategic stocks, is keeping the market on edge, and the Brent price frozen around $112 per barrel. Both initiatives seem at odds with market reality.
