Dubai-based downstream oil company Petrixo has announced it will use Honeywell UOP’s green fuels process technology to make renewable jet fuel and diesel and at a new $800 million, 1 million metric ton per year biorefinery planned at Fujairah. The plant will be the first commercial-scale jet fuel production facility outside of North America and will look to exploit oils derived from algae and halophytes grown in seawater as its feedstock. Honeywell is a founding member of UAE’s Sustainable Bioenergy Research Consortium along with US aircraft maker Boeing, local Etihad Airways and the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology based in Abu Dhabi.
