GENEVA HOURS - PART ONE

Indeed, another unusual clock. This clock, as with my previous designs, employs many unconventional features and construction methods. The most unusual characteristic, perhaps not immediately apparent to the casual observer, is the intermittent motion of the hour hand. It remains fixed, pointing directly at each hour until about 20 minutes before the hour, when it slowly begins to move, gaining speed, then ramping back down to arrive at the next hour as the minute hand reaches the top of the hour, and then resting again for 40 minutes or so before moving to the following hour. This intermittent motion is the nature of the Geneva gear set, and the motion is similar to the change in digits in a mechanical odometer or counter. With the Geneva wheel most prominently visible in the clockworks, I have chosen this feature as the name of the clock - Geneva Hours.
