The ESR is elevated in more than 70% of patients.Antinuclear antibody and rheumatoid factor tests are usually positive; IgG is often positive.Anemia of chronic disease (normo-cytic, normochromic), leukopenia, and mild eosinophilia are common.Anti-Ro and Anti-La antibodies are positive (in 70% and 40% of patients, respectively).Eye tests include measurement of tear flow by Schirmer's I test, evaluation of tear composition, and Rose Bengal and Lissamine Green stains to examine the surface of the eye for dry spots.
