The question as to whether transposable elements are involved in the expression of polygenes (the genes of small effect), which control phenotypic manifestation of traits (in particular, qualitative traits), attracts the attention of many scientists [1-3]. On the basis of some direct and indirect data showing that transposable element copies can induce mutations of Mendelian genes, it can be assumed that transposable elements can also function as modifiers of polygenes controlling the expression of genes of large effect and, therefore, may be involved in genetic transformations in populations under selection pressure.
