Editor's Note: Last summer, in an ambitious project to identify agricultural megatrends, Mike Brubaker, managing director of the Agricultural Issues Forum, solicited megatrend "nominations"from America's leading high-volume producers, agribusiness executives, academics, and environmental organizations. Hundreds were submitted. Then, through an ingenious prioritization system, Brubaker winnowed them down to 12, which we listed in our Dec. 12 issue. What follows here is my take on what these trends portend for the future.
