Cylinder pressure measuring specialist Imes, in cooperation with engine condition monitoring service provider Roos Diesel Analysis (RDA), has developed the CMS Marine, a portable multicylinder combustion pressure measuring device for the periodic simultaneous balancing of all cylinders in two- and four-stroke diesels. Imes CEO Stefan Neumann explained that the development of the measuring device targeted a valid alternative to combustion pressure monitoring, while at the same time using cylinder pressure data both to save fuel and reduce engine and propulsion system wear. "The CMS Marine is housed in a portable case and can record data from up to 20 cylinders to diagnose malfunctions or to assist in the setting and optimization of engine operating parameters," Neumann said.
