Japan Warms To ME-GI Concept: Mitsui demonstrates first produced 6S70ME-GI engine; leading to increased marine orders

Mitsui, one of MAN Diesel & Turbo's oldest licensees, held a successful demonstration in April of the first Mitsui MAN B&W 6S70ME-C-GI engine produced at its Tamano, Okayama, Japan, works. Mitsui built the world's first commercial high-pressure, gas-injection, two-stroke engine, a 12K80MC-GI-S delivered to the power station at Chiba, China, in 1994, the company said.
