Beijing Issues National Standards for 10 Key Emission Sources

China has issued new standards for 10 key industries for greenhouse gas reporting programs, South China Morning Post reported. One of these industries is the power sector, which is heavy reliant on coal. Overinvestment in production capacity buildup and power price liberalization has hurt profitability in these sectors, particularly as they compete with other fuels, and lower coal prices have prompted greater competition despite lower feed rates. New expansions will need to be moderated lest the risk of lower utilization industry wide occur, further eroding product margins.
