Philippines-based Spectrum Blue Steel announced that more than 350 people attended a Dec. 15 groundbreaking ceremony in Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija Province, Philippines, for Spectrum's municipal solid waste (MSW) recycling facility and gasification system. Spectrum will utilize proprietary gasification technology invented by Dr. Christopher A. McCormack, chairman and chief executive officer of Bahamas-based Global Environmental Energy Corporation (Global Energy). The proprietary gasification technology, called the "Biosphere MKV System" has been licensed by Global Energy to Spectrum Steel.
