Two gasification projects shortlisted for the next phases of UK's CCS competition

A Tees Valley gasification scheme is one of four bidders that been short listed for the next phase of the UK governments US$1.5 billion Carbon Capture and Storage competition. If approved, the project would bring a major job boost in the region. The CCS technology aims to safely remove and store harmful carbon emissions from coal and gas plants. The successful projects, which also include a 570 MWIGCC project in Grangemouth, Scotland, are invited to take part in a period of intensive commercial negotiations with the Government before decisions on which projects to support further are are taken in 2013.
