The method involves controlling an x-ray arrangement during a swiveling process in such a manner that an x-ray detector detects projections of a testing object. Projections and the corresponding angle positions are stored by a control device. A phase signal corresponding to a phase position of the testing object is accepted and information corresponding to the phase position of the object is assigned to the projections. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a data carrier with a computer program for execution of a method of operating an x-ray unit (2) an x-ray unit with a control device and an x-ray arrangement.
