O'Reilly: U.S. to continue oil imports for next '20 to 25 years'

Despite a surge in domestic shale-gas production, David O'Reilly, chairman of the National Eetroleum Council believes that the United States will remain an oil-importing nation for at least the next two decades, Reuters reported June 13. Speaking at an energy-policy conference at Stanford University, O'Reilly said that, while there will be more than enough natural gas to supply the U.S. with power, the oil-import status of this nation will remain because of U.S. reliance on oil to fuel the transportation sector.
