Germany to Pipe Additional Gas to Poland

Poland's pipeline operator Gaz-System announced Oct. 7 that it has signed contracts to allow 27 companies access to import capacity from the country's interconnector with Germany-Capacity of the Lasow interconnector will be expanded to approximately 1.5-billion cubic meters a year (bcm/y) from approximately 0.5 bcm/y as of January 2012. The extra supply will be used to feed the country's existing natural-gas transmission system and spur the development of new transmission lines. By 2014, the company will construct over 1,000 km (621 miles) of new pipelines.
