Camarao Successes Embolden Anadarko Mozambique LNG Plans

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. (Anadarko) announced Oct. 5 that as a result of its "successful drilling program offshore Mozambique," the company will develop a2-train, 10-million-tonne-per-year Mozamb.iq.ue LNG facility. The cumulative results of itsexploration and appraisal success offshore Mozambique have sub-stantially increased the resource potential in the Offshore Area 1 of the deepwater Rovuma Basin, the company said in its release.The appraisal section of its most recent exploration well at the Camarao prospect encountered ap-proximately 240 net feet (73 meters) of natural gas-bearing sands. Static pressure indicates connectivity with the partnership's previously announced Windjammer and Lagos-ta discoveries. Additionally, the Camarao well discovered approximately 140 net feet (43 meters) of natural gas pay in shallower Miocene and Oligocene sands not encountered in previous wells, management reported.
