China, Japan LNG Imports Hit Records

Japan's import volumes rose 10.6 percent on a year-over-year basis to 6.2 million tonnes in June as the country and its utilities have made up for lost nuclear generation capacity. Chinese import volumes reached 1.04 million tonnes, a record at a time when the country seeks peaking summer demand for power generation. With Japan's nuclear generation capacity in question and China's Fujian, Guangdong LNG and other terminals online, growth is highest in Asian markets.
