Japanese and South Korean LNG imports hit record levels

While India, China and other developing economies have built new LNG regasification terminals, the consumer side of the market remains dominated by Japan and South Korea, which together account for just over 50% of world LNG regas capacity. This figure excludes the United States, where most regas capacity has been idled as domestic gas prices are lower than LNG import prices.
