Chopped tyre cow mattresses have proved to be a great success with the cows at SAC Auchincruive. Last winter, 15 British Hi-Comfort mats from AMS Environshell were installed as part of an ongoing evaluation of cubicle mats that has operated since 1979. "The chopped tyre mats offer a degree of comfort far beyond the other products installed at the time," says the head of the building design department, Dr Mike Kelly, at a seminar on cow comfort.
