Mining engineering-opportunities to go places and experience cultures

One of the reasons why I wanted to be a mining engineer is the ability to travel the world and experience many cultures. I never imagined that during my student years I would be able to see so much and experience so many different cultures. Through mining work terms, mining engineering competitions, and field trips, I have been able to see places and meet people from many parts of the world. As a mining engineering student, there are opportunities for students to work all over the world. This past summer, I worked in North Queensland, Australia, for Resolute Mining Pty Ltd's Mount Wright Gold Project. Two days after my arrival was the first cut for the decline. It was a very exciting time to be working at this mine-many of the visiting contractors said that they could feel the enthusiasm in the air around Mount Wright.
