摘要

Referred to as Canada's true North, the Yukon is a haven for hunting and fishing enthusiasts. The territory, truly one of Mother Nature's finest works, is also home to Mount Logan, the highest point in the country. A seven-hour drive up the Klondike Highway from Whitehorse brings you to Dawson City, the site of the Klondike Gold Rush, a defining time in Canada's history over a century ago. For years, rumors of gold in the Yukon were reported by Hudson Bay Company traders. By 1882, miners began making their way to the area in search of the precious metal. A few years later, on August 17, 1896, while panning for gold in Bonanza Creek, a tributary of the Klondike River, George and Kate Carmack, Tagish 'Dawson' Charlie, and Skookum Jim's perseverance paid off-they discovered gold. News of their discovery spread like wildfire, sparking one of the biggest gold rushes in history.
